Named Isbillen Power Reserve, the 1-hour duration Battery Energy Storage System project will be the largest in Sweden and the largest in the Nordics by megawatt (MW) power. The initiative, led by Ingrid Capacity in collaboration with BW ESS, consists of 14 large-scale energy storage systems with a total capacity of 211 MW/211 MWh. This milestone investment represents a significant step toward Sweden’s goal of achieving a carbon-neutral energy system.

Ingrid Capacity plans to build an additional 13 energy storage facilities in Sweden by the end of 2024, with a total capacity of 196 MW/196 MWh. By the second half of 2025, the company aims to have over 400 MW/400 MWh of flexible resources in the Swedish electricity grid.
The Elektra Energy Storage Project, Sweden’s largest battery storage project, is now fully operational.
