The Congo LNG (liquefied natural gas) project is the first natural gas liquefaction project being undertaken in the Republic of Congo. The project is set to adopt a zero-flaring technological approach, ensuring a low environmental footprint. Energy company Eni is spearheading the development of the project through its subsidiary, Eni Congo.
The Republic of Congo’s capacity to produce LNG will be increased with the installation of the new facility offshore. Alongside the current Tango FLNG, which has a capacity of 0.6 MTPA, the Nguya FLNG will function with a liquefaction capacity of 2.4 MTPA. Since December 2023, the Tango FLNG has been in operation.
Chinese shipbuilder Wison New Energies has launched and named the hull of Italian energy company Eni’s first floating LNG production unit newbuilding for the Republic of Congo. Eni said on Saturday the 2.4-mtpa capacity Nguya FLNG unit had been floated at what is Wison’s Nantong yard.
The Congo FLNG, 380m long and 60m wide with a diameter of 35m, will have a production capacity of 2.4Mtpa. It will be anchored in a water depth of 40m. The FLNG will feature a storage capacity of 180,000m³ of LNG and 45,000m³ of LPG (liquified petroleum gas) and will utilise a submerged swivel yoke mooring system.
Leveraging Natural Gas to Fuel Energy Expansion While Congo has traditionally relied on crude oil production, natural gas – especially associated gas produced alongside crude oil – presents an opportunity for new export revenues and enhanced energy security.

The global energy storage battery cabinet market is experiencing unprecedented growth, with demand increasing by over 500% in the past three years. Battery cabinet storage solutions now account for approximately 60% of all new commercial and residential solar installations worldwide. North America leads with 48% market share, driven by corporate sustainability goals and federal investment tax credits that reduce total system costs by 35-45%. Europe follows with 40% market share, where standardized cabinet designs have cut installation timelines by 75% compared to traditional solutions. Asia-Pacific represents the fastest-growing region at 60% CAGR, with manufacturing innovations reducing battery cabinet system prices by 30% annually. Emerging markets are adopting cabinet storage for residential energy independence, commercial peak shaving, and emergency backup, with typical payback periods of 2-4 years. Modern cabinet installations now feature integrated systems with 5kWh to multi-megawatt capacity at costs below $400/kWh for complete energy storage solutions.
Technological advancements are dramatically improving solar power generation performance while reducing costs for residential and commercial applications. Next-generation solar panel efficiency has increased from 15% to over 22% in the past decade, while costs have decreased by 85% since 2010. Advanced microinverters and power optimizers now maximize energy harvest from each panel, increasing system output by 25% compared to traditional string inverters. Smart monitoring systems provide real-time performance data and predictive maintenance alerts, reducing operational costs by 40%. Battery storage integration allows solar systems to provide backup power and time-of-use optimization, increasing energy savings by 50-70%. These innovations have improved ROI significantly, with residential solar projects typically achieving payback in 4-7 years and commercial projects in 3-5 years depending on local electricity rates and incentive programs. Recent pricing trends show standard residential systems (5-10kW) starting at $15,000 and commercial systems (50kW-1MW) from $75,000, with flexible financing options including PPAs and solar loans available.
